Overview
A historically important and highly collectible Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, reference 145.022-69, produced in 1971. This 42mm model features the iconic black dial with three-register chronograph layout and the sought-after pre-Moon caseback configuration. Powered by the legendary manually wound caliber 861, this is the same movement family that accompanied NASA missions. Fitted on its original steel bracelet and showing honest signs of age.
Case
The stainless steel case measures 42mm in diameter and features twisted lugs and a black tachymeter bezel insert with "TACHYMÈTRE" marking. The watch is fitted with a plexiglass crystal featuring the original Omega logo at center. The caseback is the pre-Moon variant, engraved simply with the Omega Seahorse logo and Speedmaster script, without NASA mission references. Water resistance is rated at 3 ATM.
Dial
The original matte black dial features luminous indices with matching aged tritium in the hands and hour plots. The dial is free from restoration, showcasing patina consistent with age. Subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock display the chronograph minutes, 12-hour totalizer, and continuous seconds respectively. The hands are original and show tritium aging.
Bracelet
The watch is presented on its stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp. The bracelet exhibits visible wear and a noticeable stretch, consistent with vintage age. One link has been repaired in the past. It fits up to a 8-inch wrist.
Condition
This vintage Speedmaster is in well-preserved condition with visible and tangible signs of wear such as scuffs and light surface scratches on the crystal, case and bezel. The dial and hands show signs of aging, the dial has three small oil stains by the 7, 6, and 4 o'clock index markers. The watch was recently serviced in-house on July 25, 2025, and the movement is running accurately with all functions tested. Crystal has surface marks consistent with age but remains clear and intact. One bracelet link has been soldered and repaired in the past.
